Food chain hide and seek game
Target Group: Middle School
Subject: Coral Reef Life
Ocean Literacy Principle: 5,6
Students play a predator-prey game in which they are either a fish or coral reef and discuss the results of the game.
Start with the PowerPoint to explain food chains. Some fish species eat during the day, while others eat at night. Coral feeds at night. One student has a special role and can destroy the coral reef because he pollutes it. The game continues for several days and nights. Afterwards the students discuss the results in groups. Adjust the specific fish species to your area or keep the fish at family level.
Large open space that can get dark (classroom with tables at the side), marker, construction paper or use normal paper, marker, coloring utensils, printed worksheets for each student (or write questions on the board).
