The students build a marine food web together. They each represent an organism, ecosystem or abiotic factor.
The students stand in a big circle and all hold a card with for instance a crab, mangrove or sunlight on it. The students who is zooplankton starts and connects his organism to an ecosystem, predator or abiotic factor by connecting himself to the other students with a thread and explaining their relationship. This student then connects his card to another organism, ecosystem or factor and the thread follows until everybody is connected.
Paper, marker, colored thread (at least 30 m).
Examples of Animals: crab, shark, butterflyfish, green turtle, dugong, parrotfish; Ecosystems: coral reef, deep ocean, seagrass, mangroves, marine debris; Abiotic factors: salt water, fresh water, sunlight, moonlight, oxygen, carbon dioxide.
