A drop in a bucket-Experiment
Target Group: Primary School
Ocean Literacy Principle: 1,4,5
Students realize during a demonstration experiment which forms of water are present on earth. Only a very small amount is drinking water.
Students predict how much potable water is available on earth. In the experiment the teacher pours water from a beaker into smaller ones, while discussing fresh and salt water. Students calculate how much fresh water is available in ice and as drinking water. The activity can be found on page 45 of the Educator's guide.
Beaker or liter bottle, 100 ml cylinder, dish, salt, colored paper, white paper, bucket, eye dropper, ice cube tray, printed worksheet (or write schedule and questions on the blackboard).
